Smile because you are beautiful with all of your flaws and imperfections.

Hello everyone, and welcome to May. Spring has finally sprung but here in Northern NJ it doesn’t seem like it just yet. The temperatures are only around the high fifties during the day. At night it drops to the thirties.

Anyway with the not so spring temperatures I love to snuggle on the couch and watch classic movies. Like this 1974 movie Claudine with James Earl Jones & Diahann Carroll.

I loved this movie because it was about every day people doing every day things. No glitz, no glamor. Just normal people coming together to make each other smile.

James Earl Jones played Rupert “Roop” Marshall the garbage collector. While Diahann Carroll played his love interest as Caludine Price single mother of six.

The thing I truly love about this movie is that is authentic. Everything from the scenes, to the clothes, how they speak and the Harlem vibe. It made it feel like it could have been your own apartment or even your city.

In my opinion, when you pull stories from real life scenes it makes them ten times better. As you are bringing your audience on your storytelling journey with you. You’re taking them places they’ve never been or wanted to return to.

Thats why every time I watch this movie it brings me back to the great 1970s. The time when things were different yet the same.

Memories are great to keep in a treasure chest to reminisce. I’ve opened my chest to enjoy this movie this weekend. What are you remembering from the past that makes you smile?
