One day a third grade teacher asked her class what they wanted to be when they grew up. A little girl said she wanted to be a pilot so she could fly above the clouds. Her classmate Kevin replied he hoped to be an astronaut to walk on the moon.

Others chimed in with their dreams of becoming a photographer, a writer,  a train conductor and a firefighter. Just to name a few of the extremely long list. Their teacher explained that there are a million plus things to become because the possibilities are endless.

As the children grew older some of those wonderful childhood ideas slipped away. At times some dreams were forgotten as they happily enjoyed their youth. Or they moved on to the next best thing that interested them. 

The determined kids took a different course of action. Though their plans may have slightly be altered a bit they stayed on their paths. Weathering storms from every angle, they in stayed in the race.

This event plays each and every day around the world. These little ones are the people who will lead us tomorrow. So it’s our job to instill in them the skills and values that will help them run the world.

Once becoming an adult, life happens so some goals and dreams take a backseat. They’re put on hold so you can attend school, work and or raise a family. This most certainly is understandable because in order to achieve anything you must first make a commitment to it.

You have to decide if your passion is worth all the hard work it entails. Is it worth long days and longer nights building on it. Or is it something that you can leave without thinking twice.

Once you realize your ultimate thing that makes your heart sing, you’re on your way. You might wonder where you’re going. Well it’s back in the third grade class when the teacher asked what you wanted to be. 

As for me I’m where I wanted to be because I was the child in third grade wanting to be a writer. It’s never too late to fulfill your dreams. What do you want to be when you grow up?
