Happy One Year Anniversary

One year ago, today I set out to start a blog to create a place where you could find faith inspired books and articles for encouragement. For years, I had been posting inspirational quotes on my Instagram page, so this was nothing new to me. What was new to me was realizing how much I truly loved it. The more I wrote, the more I wanted to write. I fell in love with writing all over again. Writing pieces that touch others make my heart sing.

Whether you’ve been with me all year or just started following me. Thank you so much for reading my blog. Thank you for your likes, comments and shares. They mean the world to me. My writing critique partner Stephanie once said that my articles sound like we are sitting around having a conversation. Well to that I say, grab a cup of tea, coffee or your favorite beverage because I’ve only just begun.

SMILE

Earlier this week, I had an appointment in an office building where there were metal detectors that you had to go through to access the building. Good morning was the first thing I heard upon entering the building. I arrived at my appointment early and was told to wait against the wall before being allowed entry to the office. As employees entered the building and passed through the metal detectors, I watched their interactions. The two vibrant security guards greeted everyone with such grace and joy that I had to look.

They gave such an energetic Good Morning it was worthy of waking, even Sleeping Beauty herself. Several employees passed through and there were things like “I like your new hairstyle, Bud it’s almost the weekend you can do this and my favorite, have a good day.” They said Have a good day to everyone. This was simply mind-blowing to me because I’ve never seen so much enthusiasm at a security checkpoint before. Upon leaving the building, I told them how I loved their energy and positive vibe.

These young ladies made it their business to put a smile on each person’s face simply by saying two words. Good morning. Imagine what this world could be like if everyone did what they did. This would be a truly amazing place.

The reason I write is to make people smile. I want my words to touch someone’s soul who might need a little inspiration to keep from diving off that bridge. Or taking those pills. I want my words to encourage, uplift and to give hope. This is how I make people smile. I challenge you to make someone smile. Leave me a comment and let me know how you did it.

Getting Ready

Photo by Brett Jordan on Pexels.com

In just a few short days summer will be upon us and most people will be planning something fun to do in the warm weather. But here is my question, why is it that we wait until something like the weather getting better to do certain things? Why do we wait until our finances are better to start looking for a new house or learn a new trade? Why do we wait for the most opportune time to move forward? Now I’m not saying go purchase a house that is above your means or get student loans you can’t afford. What I am saying is do research until the time is right.

In this journey we call life, I have learned that sitting down and waiting for that perfect time will only do one thing for sure. That is waste time. Maybe it is just me but when God blesses me with my future husband, I want to be ready. I want to be the whole person so that he does not have to work to complete me. By working out any issues within myself beforehand I can be a greater person. Then I can be ready for him. When God sends me my necessary car, I want to be ready to understand how it works. When the literary agents call me and tell me they want to publish my novel, I want to be ready with it. Hence this blog as a starter and my almost completed novel.

God’s plan may not include the above things for me right now but in the meantime, I am getting ready. By taking part in a devotional book titled THE COURAGE TO WRITE I was among 61 other gifted and talented writers who contributed to the book. My devotional LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD is just the beginning of me getting ready for better to come. What’s yours? Leave your comment below.
