How to Go Around Obstacles to Get to Your Goals

The day after my city was pounded with snow, I had to go to my doctor’s appointment. Not having a driveway makes moving my car difficult. Cleaning the snow off my car and paving it out is not fun when you return and find your space is now occupied.
After cleaning my car I headed to the bus stop to avoid looking for a new spot upon my return. Checking the schedule I had about fifteen minutes to remove the heavy white powder and walk to get the bus.
No other passengers were onboard but me. Thirty blocks later two people got on. Then I got off at the very next corner. Wow, I was super early for my eight am appointment. I didn’t even think the office was open but to my surprise it was.
After my doctor gave me a clean bill of health I was ready to go back home. But there were several problems. I didn’t know where the bus stop was because I had forgotten to ask the driver. Then there was the timing of it to where I was. It was scheduled to be in my area in fifteen minutes.
Taking a rideshare was out of the question. Prices soar when it’s bad weather so I opted for the same route I took to get there. Time being a major factor, I did the only thing I could. I cautiously and carefully walked four blocks to where I knew the bus stopped.
Some businesses had shoveled and salted their walkways and others didn’t. The same went for private houses. I prayed I would not fall trying to get to my destination on time.
By the grace of God, I made it to the pick-up location. I almost slipped a few times but I steadied myself. At one point I had to walk in the street to avoid uncleared sidewalks.
Looking at my watch I had about eight minutes before my ride would arrive. There was a grocery store across the street where I could take shelter. However, it would have been risky trying to cross four lanes of traffic to get back to the bus stop.
To stay warm in the frigid temperatures I started to move around. Carefully I paced back and forth in front of several stores that had cleared the snow. All while looking out for my transportation. A couple had come out and started shoveling so I moved off to the side away from them.
Within no time my bus had arrived. Surprisingly I had walked about two hundred steps just waiting. Then I thought about something regarding life. My bus stop adventure reminded me that this is life.
We all have goals that we want to accomplish. We’ve already figured out what is needed to obtain it. Now we just have to go and get it.
In the process of actually doing the work, it will get hard. Without a doubt, you might want to quit at some point. You’ll have your roadblocks to get around. Your mountains to climb and maybe even a shaky bridge to cross.
As long as you focus on your goal there is nothing that you can’t accomplish. So as I sit here in my living room writing this article, I made it home. I accomplished my goal. How are you going to achieve yours?
Luke 14 28 NIV Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?
