First African American Well Known Fashion Designer

Anne Cole Lowe was the first well-known African American fashion designer. Born in 1898, her fashions were well-known in high society from the 1920s to the 1960s.

At a time in America when African Americans were segregated, she endured the pain as well. Not giving up on her talent, she would go on to design dresses for many prominent women all over the United States.
