Wisdom Wednesday – Wiiliam B. Purvis Fountain Pen Inventor

William B. Purvis –

Fountain Pen Inventor

William B. Purvis was born to a wealthy and affluent family on Aug 12, 1838, in Philadelphia, PA. Between 1884 and 1897 William received several patents. Those include a bag machine and a bag fastener. He also patented a hand stamp and an electric railway device. Additionally, he invented an electric railway switch and a magnetic car balancing device.

His most notable patent came on Jan 7, 1890, when he patented the fountain pen. After seeing a need to sign documents outside the office and at home, he created an inexpensive pen to be carried in the pocket. No longer was there a need to carry the ink well and pen itself, only the less expensive foundation pen. By doing so he changed the face of how offices run to this very day.

Changing the world doesn’t have to start with many people. It has to simply start with you seeing a need for change. I realized that I was reading and watching more bad news than good. So here I am with my change for a better world. I write this inspirational self-help blog as good news. What do you do to make your life or this world better?
