The True Wealth: Integrity Over Money

By

The world we live in revolves around goods and services. To obtain those things, money is necessary. If one has something that another needs, they use currency to pay for it.

You can use your six-figure salary to purchase a nice house and a car. Perhaps take a few trips a year and buy the most expensive items you desire. Let’s not forget you splurge whenever you feel like it.

With your minimum wage job, you have to be very budget-conscious. Bills are always due, and sometimes they all can’t get paid. Taking on a second job and cutting corners whenever possible is a must.

With these two very different incomes, does it make you less of a person? Are you considered below class because you can’t afford a car or house, or other fine things? Do people look down on you because of your job title? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this article is for you.

Right here and right now is where you learn how to hold your head up high. This is where you stop letting the naysayers dictate who you are based on your job title.

Integrity, in my opinion, is the number one factor that makes a person prosperous. It sets the tone for you as a person because having it means you have high standards. Your wallet may be light, but how you carry yourself is more than gold. You treat people the same way you want to be treated – with respect.

The components of Integrity below demonstrate the gold you are made of. They outshine any trinket that could ever be bought.

Honesty: Being truthful and sincere helps build trust with others.

Kindness: It’s always nice to be nice because you never know when someone needs to hear a kind word.

Responsibility: Being accountable for your actions, whether good or bad, shows your willingness to be a responsible person.

Courage: This can be hard for some people (Myself included). However, when you have no choice but to be strong, that is when you find your strength.

Patience: Having the ability to remain calm even though it’s very frustrating. So, you patiently wait while biting your tongue until your moment comes along.

Gratitude: When receiving a gift, whether small or big, being grateful is the key. Someone was thinking of you, and that in itself is something to be thankful for.

I learned a long time ago that there’s no difference between the janitor and the CEO. Sure, the person pushing the broom and cleaning toilets cleans up behind people. But so does the CEO; they just do it from behind a desk, where they work very long hours.

Whether you live in a shelter, a tiny basement apartment, or in a ten-room mansion, your character speaks volumes. How you greet people and whether or not they reply back does as well. How you use your manners to say please and thank you is a sign of your richness.

The amount of money you have in your bank account is just currency. The house you live in is your only shelter. The type of car you drive is merely a means of transportation.

Becoming rich doesn’t start in your bank account. It starts with you having integrity. Honesty, kindness, responsibility, courage, patience, and gratitude are all signs of a wealthy person.

Philippians 4:19 KJV.  But my God shall supply all your need, according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
