Expect Delays

A funny thing happened to me as I was writing a post today on Sept 22, 2023. I was originally writing a message that my article would be delayed until tomorrow Saturday. After unforeseen circumstances my article was simply not ready yet.

However, something amazing happened as I finished writing the post and adding the picture. I looked at the image of the traffic sign and it read Expect Delays. Hmm, how profound is that immediately came to my mind.

You’re riding your scooter or bike on your way to make your food delivery when you fall into an unseen pothole. By the grace of God, you weren’t hurt but now the food is scattered everywhere. Expect delays.

You waited three months for a dentist appointment; however, it was rescheduled. Due to a water leak, the entire office was flooded. Expect delays.

In my personal experience I was taking public transportation to pick up my car from the mechanic when the bus broke down. The shop was closing in less than forty minutes and the bus ride was thirty-five. Thank God they waited for me to get there. Expect delays.

You’re sitting in traffic that has not budged in twenty-five minutes. With two tractor-trailers colliding across all four lanes of traffic, you put your car in park after the first ten minutes. Expect delays.

How many times have you been on time only to be faced with waiting and more waiting? In life, things will occur when schedules must be adjusted. It’s not always pleasant, to say the least.

Sometimes, the new plan will not work out for you. Others, it works even better than the original. Here’s the thing, whether, you’re a writer with deadlines, a traveler with a planned route, or a soon-to-be homeowner, delays will happen.

God might not want you to write that book right now because He has more information for your story. There might be a storm brewing on the destination of that flight. That home might have unforeseen foundation problems.

These are the moments when God is telling you to wait. Don’t rush into something that you are not prepared to handle. God has got it under control so let Him handle it.
