Recharge & Renew Yourself to Be a Better You
By Desiree Future
As I stare at this blank screen trying to think of something to write for my blog. I can’t help but remember when this blank page was actually a blank sheet of paper. Whether it was white, yellow, or any other color.
In the days long past, when it was time for writing I would pull out a notebook and just write. By the way, I still have some of my writings from high school some thirty plus years later. Now as the years have advanced, I can take out any of my electronics and write away.
Using my cell phone, I jot down a quick note for an article. Then there’s my Kindle Fire tablet I use when I need to travel and still meet an assignment deadline. Lastly, there’s my trusty laptop where I can truly get the most writing done while also doing some research at the same time.
I like to call these the plugins because eventually, you have to plug them in to use them. The bright lights from these gadgets allow for plenty of hours to create wonderful stories. But what happens when they start to dim?
I notice one by one the bars on each start to disappear. They fade, the longer my fingers continue to hit the keys. Yet, I’m still beating out the stories as they naturally come to me.
Then it happens I’m down to one bar and in immediate danger of losing my prized writing. Although I’ve pressed saved along the way, the danger still exists. I want to continue to pen my thoughts but the screen goes black.
Now, I must recharge my battery before I can start again. Does this sound familiar to you? You hustle and bustle your way through life every day only to have your battery drained.
If so, your body is telling you to stop and recharge yourself. Step away from your busy life and just breathe. I know it may be hard or darn near impossible.
As you’re probably a single parent, a person having to work two jobs just to keep a roof over your family’s head. Or you could be like me, a writer needing to get every word out for your masterpiece. Whatever your circumstances, you need to rest.
I understand, that if you don’t go to the laundromat the clothes won’t get washed. Dinner won’t make itself and nor will the house clean itself. No, there’s no magic wand to get these done and the other things you need to accomplish as well.
Just like the battery losing its bars, your strength is dwindling. And eventually, you will come to an abrupt halt. Being compelled to complete a project while running on fumes will only result in a less-than-satisfactory outcome.
Your mountain-high list of chores will eventually get done. But for now, take time to just close your eyes and inhale and exhale. Recharge and renew yourself to be a better you.
