5 Tips to Enjoy Your Relaxing Vacation

I recently had a conversation with my good friend about vacations. Every year we plan to do certain things while away exploring. Time away from our busy normal lives is essential these days.

Whether we are planning a week filled with explorations or just planning a quick getaway, the list is always lengthy. Then my friend said something to me that got me thinking. “Why not just plan to actually relax while away?” is what they said.

Well, that was powerful. Sometimes we get so caught up in running away from our daily lives that we forget to unwind. If you really think about it, we spend so much time checking off everything on our itinerary that we might not get a chance to relax.

Now the reason we take time off is to escape our hectic lives. But when we return from our break, we need another one just to recoup. As you know your “Must See While Away” list can easily have four or five things on it and that’s just for one day. Talk about busy.

Imagine if your stay was five days and four nights. I’m sure it’s packed with so many different outings that you don’t normally get to do. Sure, it will be nice to see new things and cross items off your bucket list. But at what physical cost to you?

Work can be exhausting on many days so spending time away to rejuvenate is necessary. Being a parent can also make you feel like your fuel is on low. As a mother, when my son was little, I screamed many times for Calgon to take me away.

Here are a few suggestions to help you truly enjoy your leisurely stay

  1. When planning a short trip make time for a relaxing bath. It can make you feel nice and refreshed.
  2. Put your feet up at your hotel or house rental and watch a movie.
  3. Read a book with your favorite beverage.
  4. If planning a long trip schedule a spa treatment or massage for yourself in between your outings.
  5. Take a nice stroll around the neighborhood you’d be amazed at what you’d find.

There are countless other activities that you can choose from. Just make sure it’s something that makes you happy.

Allow enough space in your busy calendar of events to enjoy doing absolutely nothing. You can’t be any good to anyone else if you are not good to yourself.
