I was invited to a church Tea Party of which I had never been to before. I choose a fascinator as my headpiece because it reminds me of the 1940s gorgeous, sophisticated headwear. After shopping at both online and physical stores, I came to a roadblock. The prices were a little too steep for my wallet.
Not wanting to spend a lot of money on something I would only wear once, I decided to try to make it myself. As a crafty person, I’ve made no sew curtains, jewelry, artwork, and wall décor, just to name a few. I studied the pictures online to replicate what I wanted. Then I purchased the supplies for less than seventy-five percent of what a fascinator would normally cost.
With glue gun and supplies in hand, I sat and crafted something so wonderful I even shocked myself. Somehow, I had created a beautiful headpiece that was worthy of looking as if it was store brought. I shouted Thank you Jesus because this was a talent I didn’t know I had.
My goal was to wear a fancy hat, if you will, to the Tea Party. God’s goal was to show me a gift that He stored in me. Trying new things can seem scary. No, forget that trying new things is scary as you travel into the unknown. However, journeying to the unknown can be very exciting as you discover a whole new world while always remembering God will always guide you.
This is my gift from God which turned into several orders for one-of-a-kind headpieces. What’s your gift from God?
