Trust the Process, Leaning on God

One day, I was at my Physical Therapist’s Office getting treatment. An old show of Bob Ross, the American painter, was playing on the TV, high above the exercise equipment. Being that a very good friend of mine is an artist, I’m quite familiar with his work. Actually, his work inspired her work, and I have many paintings hanging in my apartment.
I had seen a few of his shows online, but I never watched an entire episode until then. Normally, I would watch the small clips on YouTube and catch the finished project. However, this time was different. I was able to watch the entire show.
Bob started out with something that was very odd to me. Knowing a little about his work, this shocked me. Instead of starting with a white blank canvas, he had it pre-painted in the right corner with black. This was very surprising to me because, from everything I’d seen before, nothing looked like this at all.
My therapist and I both questioned what he was doing. Then he said something that caught me off guard. He said Trust the Process. Hmm, well, that left a lot to question.
Continuing my therapy, I tried to keep an eye on the TV as much as I could. However, that proved to be a bit difficult when I had to move to other parts of the room. Catching views of him adding colors of orange and yellow from afar, I started to smile. This young lady was curious to see what he would do next.
Just as I returned near the TV, Bob had painted the final touches to his masterpiece. Colors of orange, yellow, blue, white, and black adorned this picture. The black on the right side of the canvas was actually the beginning of a mountain. The beautiful painting was the orange sky with blue water and the mountainside peeking out.
To say this picture was among the best I’d ever seen would be an understatement. Being transparent, I thought perhaps this was a video not meant to be aired. Maybe an error on that was not supposed to be viewed by the public. Or it was a general mistake that was put up to give a lesson on what not to do.
As I drove home, the breath-taking painting and my therapist’s words “Trust the Process” rang in my ears. Realizing life is just like this picture, they both started to come together.
Have you ever come to a place where you have more questions than answers? I’m raising my hand because I have been there myself. I’ve looked around trying to figure things out.
Sometimes, we go through troublesome moments in our lives and are unsure of the outcome. It’s like being at a fork in the road. If you go left the problem could get worse. Or if you go right, you still might have a few bumps but it won’t be so bad.
This is the very time you should pray. Pray to God and ask Him for direction. Ask Him to guide you in the right way that you should go.
With everything that is flooding your mind, the last thing you need is stress. Take some time and talk to God. Tell Him all about everything that you’re going through. Explain your situation and don’t forget to tell Him about your fears like you would to your friends. Cry out to Him and give your all to Him. Finally, leave it in God’s hands and trust that He will see you through.
